The introduction of the government’s Apprenticeship Levy in the spring of 2017 will result in significant change to the way that apprenticeship training is funded by employers.
From spring 2017, the apprenticeship levy ensures employers with a payroll bill in excess of £3m per year will be required to make an investment in apprenticeships. Employers can benefit from this investment by training their own apprentices and taking advantage of the skills, talent and enthusiasm that apprenticeships bring to a business.
The Apprenticeship Levy is also challenging independent providers and colleges to think about how they will attract, support and retain employers to take maximum opportunity of the benefits that the Levy can bring. This has created demand for a number of high level salespeople who have the skills to secure top tier employer accounts and generate innovative solutions.
