THE CONTEXT

We worked in partnership with one of the UK’s largest grocery retailers, supporting their need to identify high quality talent across a range of business critical functions and gain a better understanding of their employer brand in the external market place. In addition, the client wanted to identify potential future hires.

A comprehensive insight into the senior organisation structures of five core business functions was required.

OUR SOLUTION

  • We undertook a programme of research into 10 pre-agreed competitor organisations.


    The organisational structures of key divisions and functions were investigated resulting in comprehensive organisation charts detailing names, job titles and reporting lines. In addition, desk research was undertaken to provide all relevant published information relating to the organisations and the named employees. Thereafter a programme of telephone research was undertaken to gain insight into individuals current reward packages, medium term career aspirations and opinions on our client as an “in principle” potential employer.

THE OUTCOME

  • A comprehensive “market map” of specified target organisations was produced

  • A wide range of in-depth intelligence relating to remuneration and reward, employee branding, talent experience, skills and preferences was provided for analysis and reporting

  • Market, company and people intelligence were reported to support internal talent benchmarking and medium-term senior succession planning processes
